if only |
He slammed the door shut,
As the tears fell beside his cheeks,
He sat down on the bed,
And kept weeping for her.
For a few moments he choked,
His hands shivered,
His mouth shouted,
His mind drifted,
To the images of her.
When they stood there under the rain,
And they said their heartfelt wish,
To break free from themselves,
and though they both knew,
that it was all a big show,
Not he nor she could take a stand.
They were both cowards,
They were both frightened,
that if they decided otherwise,
They might have to stand there again.
So they said the things they could,
As they hoped silently,
That maybe one of them would disagree.
But no words of console,
Came out from their mouths,
So they walked back to their lives,
Feeling miserable and crippled.
He thought she wanted it,
And she thought he wanted it.
Who would have thought,
that things could've been different,
If only they weren't cowards.
